2018 NCAA Tournament Preview

ncaaIt’s that time of the year.

Time to prepare your brackets.  Time to pick those 12-5, 13-4, 11-6 seeded upsets.  Time to predict the Final Four.  Time to burn those brackets after the first weekend.

(By the way, for those interested in coming up short to yours’ truly, join my Bracket Challenge group on Yahoo! Sports)

To help get your asses ready, I have provided a sweet, quick preview of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.  Now will my Final Four picks flame out?  Probably, but at least you will be more informed than ever before (I think).

So, without further ado…

South Region

Top Four Seeds

  1. Virginia
  2. Cincinnati
  3. Tennessee
  4. Arizona

Dark horse: Kentucky

Analysis

I was set on picking Virginia to go to the Final Four. Then I heard about ACC Sixth Man of the Year De’Andre Hunter hurting his wrist and missing the NCAA Tournament. That injury will REALLY hurt the Cavaliers. So that moved my pick from barely picking the Cavs over Arizona to going with the Wildcats without any regrets.

Region winner: Arizona

East Region

Top Four Seeds

  1. Villanova
  2. Purdue
  3. Texas Tech
  4. Wichita State

Dark horse: West Virginia

Analysis

I’ve gone on record before to say Villanova is the best team in college basketball. I really do not see any team that would serve as even a speed bump on the Wildcats’ journey to the Final Four.

Region winner: Villanova

West Region

Top Four Seeds

  1. Xavier
  2. North Carolina
  3. Michigan
  4. Gonzaga

Dark horse: Gonzaga

Analysis

When I first looked at this region, I could’ve sworn that UNC coach Roy Williams drew up that bracket himself. The Tar Heels are better than every team in their region (barf!). I think Xavier is a fraud as a top-seed.

Region winner: UNC

Midwest Region

Top Four Seeds

  1. Kansas
  2. Duke
  3. Michigan State
  4. Auburn

Dark horse: Clemson

Analysis

Duke’s Marvin Bagley is a beast. When Grayson Allen plays the point and feeds Bagley, the Blue Devils are awfully hard to beat. Duke owns Michigan State, and do you really trust Kansas in March?

Region winner: Duke

2017-2018 National Champions: Duke Blue Devils

(I just threw up in my mouth)
