I know what most of y’all are probably thinking:
“You haven’t been posting a lot of NFL weekly previews this season. What’s going on with you? You’re not depressed, are ya?”
Well, you’re right on the first statement. In fact, I could count on one hand the amount of weekly previews I’ve provided this season (four).
I haven’t necessarily been down in the dumps, per se. However, I’ve had a WHOLE LOT going on this season, and they’ve been taking my attention away from blogging as much as I would like.
I think it’s a combination of things.
My Steelers have been experiencing the most unthinkable amount of adversity in recent memory, which led to my attention going astray most of the season. The offense has been a walking M.A.S.H. unit all season, with Big Ben out with a bad elbow since the first half of Week 2. James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuester have been in and out (mostly OUT) of the lineup all season.
I started a new job, and experienced a whole lot of personal highs and lows along the way. They’ve led me to questioning a lot of things in my life, but I assure you all I’ll be alright — as long as you all say a little prayer for me.
Before I go too far into this rabbit hole, let’s get this thing crackin’ and pick some of these games… shall we?
Game of the Week
San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
This is a great way to end the 100th NFL season. Two heated division rivals. Winner gets the division crown and home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs, loser gets to be a wildcard team.
I would pick the Seahawks, but their injuries on offense will be too hard to overcome. There is a reason why they brought back Beast Mode, you know. Therefore, I like the 49ers in what would be a spirited, competitive prime-time game… 49ers 24, Seahawks 20.
The “Let’s Get This Shit Over With” Games of the Week
Browns over Bengals
Buccaneers over Falcons
Colts over Jaguars
Rams over Cardinals
No one in these games have much to play for, other than pride — and their jobs. Expect many good seats to be available at those games.
Games with Playoff Implications
Cowboys over Washington
Eagles over Giants
Ravens over Steelers
Texans over Titans
Broncos over Raiders
Those games will largely determine who gets into the playoffs and whose asses will be home chillin’ come January (no pun intended).
Good Games with Teams Playing for Seeding and Such
Bills over Jets
Patriots over Dolphins
Chiefs over Chargers
Vikings over Bears
Packers over Lions
Saints over Panthers
I normally would post my record here, but remember, I’ve been out of the game-picking loop for a while. My record would probably suck anyway…
