Future Is Bright for the Lakers

200px-LA_Lakers_logo.svgThe Los Angeles Lakers are coming off of consecutive losing seasons for the first time in recent memory.

Bad decisions by former front office boss Jim Buss and former general manager Mitch Kupchak set the Lakers back in a huge way, and fans were praying for a miracle to come and rescue them.

Enter team owner Jeanie Buss.

She finally had enough of her brother Jim's ineptitude and fired his ass, along with Kupchak's.  She hired Magic Johnson to become her vice president of basketball operations.

How did Magic reward his friend/boss?  He found a sucker to take on former lottery pick D'Angelo Russell (sorry to the three Brooklyn Nets fans out there), and drafted Lonzo Ball second overall in this year's draft.

Johnson wisely held onto Brandon Ingram when the Paul George trade rumors were heating up last season.  This insured that a valuable player and depth would not be compromised in any George trade, especially since Johnson (and everyone else) knew that George would likely become a free agent next summer.  Besides, the odds are that it may possibly happen. But before we get ahead of ourselves, we will have to wait and see what happens between George and Westbrook in OKC.

Don't fret Laker Nation, the future is bright for your squad.  "In Magic We Trust"
