Hard to Fault the Rams for Getting Ramsey for a Ransom

I understand some fans and media folk getting on the Los Angeles Rams for giving the Jacksonville Jaguars the keys to the kingdom for disgruntled cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

He’s not going to help the Rams’ offensive line block better. Jared Goff’s ass is taking a beating thanks to that truly offensive line. He’s not going to help stud running back Todd Gurley get healthy.

But Ramsey will help the defense.

Fellow corner Aqib Talib is on injured reserve, and Marcus Peters was so toxic the Rams traded his ass for a ham sandwich. Ramsey should step in and help remedy that sooner rather than later.

And we all know an improved defensive backfield is a defensive line’s best friend. Aaron Donald and co. will get extra time to tee off on QBs until the cows come home. That will be needed given the rest of the NFC West is hella scary on offense — even Kyler Murray is starting to heat up with the Arizona Cardinals.

Simply put, the Rams had to do what they had to in order to get someone with Ramsey’s talent. They have lost three in a row and is in dire need of a spark, no matter the cost.

And as for all the draft picks the Jaguars will be receiving, let’s not get overly excited about that.

Yes, I know LA is sending first-round picks in 2020 and 2021 and a fourth-round pick in 2021 to Jacksonville. As we’ve seen in the past, high draft picks are not guaranteed to work out. There is a reason why the word “bust” is in NFL draft lexicon. Hell, who’s to say the Jaguars will actually do right with those draft picks?

Ask yourselves this question: would you rather have a treasure trove of draft picks without knowing if they will even turn into star players, or an All-Pro talent who will help right away?
