Kawhi (and Paul George) to the Clippers: DAMN

Damn. In a matter of fact, GOD-damn.

What a helluva sports story to wake up to on a Saturday morning.

Kawhi Leonard signing with the Los Angeles CLIPPERS was surprising enough. Everyone and their mama thought that it was either going to be the Lakers or back to the Toronto Raptors.

But getting Kawhi AND trading for PAUL GEORGE??!! As I said earlier, ‘God-damn’.

(Hell, maybe the earthquakes felt in the southern California were the ripple effects of last night’s NBA blockbusters?)

You know what, it’s fitting that this deal was made in the middle of the night on the east coast. After all, the Clippers swooped in to stun the Lakers (and the Raptors) like thieves in the night (rimshot).

I would pay oodles of cash to be in the room with LeBron James and Anthony Davis when the “Kawhi to the Clippers” news hit. Hell, I would pay even more to see the expression on Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and her front office mates’ faces when it went down.

This Lakers (and Celtics) hater is laughing at their bandwagon fans — here’s looking at YOU, Shannon Sharpe — who were ready to be insufferable for the next four seasons. Let’s face it, Lakers nation: YOU are now the little brothers to the Clippers. Your squad has an aging superstar (LeBron) and another star who hasn’t done shit in the postseason (AD). Your squad also has a coach who didn’t do so well at his last stop in Orlando.

The Clippers have the better squad, deeper talent, better ownership, better front office — and a Hall of Fame head coach. And that was before the Kawhi and George moves.

If there is a moral to the story, it’s this: never, EVER, sleep on Jerry West…
