This is gonna hurt. And since I am a lifelong New York Yankees fan, this is gonna hurt REEEEAL bad.
But my job as a sports blogger dude is to give credit where credit is due. The 2018 Boston Red Sox was not only obviously the best team this season, they could easily be ranked up there with the all-time great teams.
Boston won 108 regular season games. They crushed a 100-win team (my Yankees) and an 103-win team who also happened to be the defending World Series champions (Astros) en route to winning the American League pennant and a World Series appearance. Oh, and they completed a rather easy gentlemen’s sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the championship.
The Red Sox had a rare blend of great starting pitching and ferocious hitting. Chris Sale has a great postseason, and how about David Price manning up when it mattered most! And find me someone who could get J. D. Martinez, Mookie Betts and now Steve Pearce out.
The scariest (or in my case, the saddest) part about this is all of those guys are under contract and will be back next season. The Sox gives the American League has a legit three-headed monster along with the Yankees and Astros going into 2019.
Before I end this post, I’ll force myself to say it: congrats to the Boston Red Sox in winning the 2018 World Series.
As I said earlier, that hurts REEEEEAL bad…
