It’s hard to believe that Tiger Woods won his first tournament since 2013.
Seeing the massive crowd following him to the 18th hole at the Tour Championship gave me chills. Seeing him emotional after winning the tournament gave me the feels.
And Tiger winning the Tour Championship should also give NBC the feels, too.
NBC announced the PGA Tour’s season finale drew a 5.21 overnight rating, the highest of any non-major championship this year. That number is also up a whopping 206(!) percent over last year’s event (1.70) in which Xander Schauffele won and Justin Thomas claimed the FedEx Cup’s $10 million bonus.
Also keep in mind that the Tour Championship drew these numbers despite going up against an NFL Sunday. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty damn good.
Look, hate on Tiger was much as you want (and those haters are CERTAINLY out there), but you can’t deny that he is STILL good for golf. The proof is in the ratings (and financial) pudding…
