This Kawhi Leonard vs. San Antonio Spurs saga is getting weirder by the day.
I’ve blogged before on the Spurs treatment of Leonard. I originally thought that they should just cut their losses and move on because I felt that they did him wrong in the handling of his injured quad, from wanting to rush him back to criticizing him in public.
But given Kawhi’s behavior as of late, I may have to write a blog post apologizing to the Spurs.
There have been reports of Kawhi’s team, led by his crazy uncle, had purposely made Kawhi unavailable to the Spurs, to the point of HIDING HIM from the team. His team (re: his crazy uncle) had leaked that Kawhi may opt out of possibly playing with LeBron James (!!!) and may prefer to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers (double !!!) instead.
To quote the late coaching great Vince Lombardi, “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OUT HERE!!!”
Seems to me that Kawhi (and his crazy uncle) is a VERY weird, reclusive dude who does not know what the hell he really wants. One minute he wants to go to the Lakers, the next he would prefer the Clippers, and not wanting to be part of a “super team” altogether.
Y’all following this?
Look, I know how talented Kawhi is when he’s healthy. He’s one of the best two-way players in the NBA, having won the Defensive Player of the Year and MVP of the 2014 NBA Finals. Any team who wants to dethrone the Golden State Warriors would be foolish not to want him.
But given all the drama surrounding this dude, would even getting involved with Kawhi be worth it?
