The more I keep typing rants on ACC football, the more delirious I become. I tried to be more positive on the ACC’s progress on football here and here.
Not only did the Atlantic Coast Conference finish the bowl season with a stellar 2-5 record, but it went 0-2 in the BCS bowl games. None were more embarrassing than the 70-33 ass-whupping West Virginia – that’s right, a Big East school – but on the Clemson Tigers in the Orange Bowl.
Given that the ACC champion Tigers lost to the Big East champs by over 30 and allowed 70 points in the process, it’s safe to say that the Big East has now passed over the ACC in the football totem pole.
Boy, do I feel like a dumbass.
Just like my tortured love affair with my alma mater NC State football and basketball programs, I will never, EVER, over-hype ACC football again. I should have learned my damn lesson.

I am a North Carolina Tar Heel fan and I feel a bit ashamed to be in this conference by how Clemson got their butts kicked last night (trying to be nice). I think the ACC should have a 2 year probatation of getting in BCS bowl games until they learn to win against better teams. What do you think?
I think the only thing that would work is an exorcism…
Don’t ever count out the Mountaineers! All of your trash talking and all of your disparaging comments…….you got what you deserved! And that was to be humiliated on the field and on national TV.
70-33 it’s in the record books and won’t be forgotten anytime soon!!!!!
Well, given that your Mountaineers are moving to the Big 12, no one is disparaging those guys…
