Fun Stretch Run in Store for the NBA

We are coming down the stretch in the NBA’s second half. Over 50 games down, a little over 20 more to go.

Now we get to see who the teams the beat really are.

The Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks are running things in the Eastern Conference. The Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns are the biggest surprises out West, with the top two records the conference for most of the season.

So where does that leave the defending Eastern Conference champ Miami Heat? Will the surprising Charlotte Hornets and New York Knicks continue to be disruptors in the East? Will the underachieving Boston Celtics get it together?

Will the defending world champs Los Angeles Lakers get healthy in time and get back to the NBA Finals? Will the arch-rival Los Angeles Clippers be their foil? Should we consider the Jazz and Suns as legit threats?

Well, let’s see what the “wise guys” in Vegas think. Sometimes I check the betting odds to see who I should put my money on to win the championship.

Brooklyn has nearly pulled even with the Lakers, now at average odds of +300, to the Lakers’ price of +270 per SportsBettingDime. If the Lakers’ superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are still struggling with their injuries, those odds will shift even more.

All and all, this stretch run is shaping out to be the most exciting and wide open in recent memory. Time to sit back and enjoy the ride…
