Ah, March Madness – how have I missed thee.
With some of us getting drunk on St. Patrick’s Day out of the way, we can all make plans to filling out two, three and sometimes seven brackets in preparation for the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Lots of intriguing story-lines here, one that includes some dude who goes by “Zion”. There is the greatest conference in college basketball (the Atlantic Coast Conference, of course) that has THREE #1 seeds (Duke, North Carolina and Virginia). We all know history has taught us that at least one of those #1 seeds (along with Gonzaga) will not make the Final Four.
But the coolest thing about March Madness is the Cinderella(s). Last year, it was Loyola-Chicago (remember Sister Mary?). Who will it (they) be this year?
In the meantime, here is how I see the NCAA tournament shaking out. Let’s go…
East Region
Top Four Seeds

- Michigan St.

- Virginia Tech
Darkhorses
Virginia Tech, Louisville
East winner: Duke (I mean, is there ANYONE in this region who can stop Zion?)
South Region
Top Four Seeds
- Virginia
- Tennessee
- Purdue
- Kansas St
Darkhorses
Villanova, Cincinnati
South winner: Villanova (NEVER underestimate the heart of a defending champion)
Midwest Region
Top Four Seeds
- North Carolina
- Kentucky
- Houston
- Kansas
Darkhorses
Auburn, Iowa State, Wofford
Midwest winner: UNC (by the hairs of their pale blue-ass chinny chin-chins…)
West Region
Top Four Seeds
- Gonzaga
- Michigan
- Texas Tech
- Florida State
Darkhorses
Florida State, Buffalo, Northern Kentucky (don’t sleep!)
West winner: Michigan
