Poor LeBron James.
The poor brother cannot catch a break.
First there was “The Decision” where he was slammed by many (including yours truly) for that “look at me” moment. Next came his 2011 NBA Finals meltdown that earned him the nickname “The Frozen One” (thanks a lot Skip Bayless). Now we have “Cramp-gate” where several memes have gone viral – the ones below are my favorites:
This next one made me laugh out loud:
Now before all y’all slam my ass for saying LeBron should have played through the cramps, I’m not saying that at all. Hell I’ve had enough cramps playing water polo at summer camp and running track in high school to know that they are no joke.
And I am not one of those insane LeBron haters out there (like Bayless) who overly-criticizes the brother’s every move.
I just think that LeBron has brought all of this attention to himself.
Did I think it’s fair to criticize him for his “not one, not two, not three, not four, not five” on-stage proclamation after he signed with Miami? Of course not, it was a pep rally for Christ’s sake what the hell was he supposed to do?
Did I think it was fair to criticize him for “The Decision”? I mean, it was a “look at me” moment, but I have seen much worse (paging Terrell Owens and Randy Moss).
But that is what happens when you proclaim yourself as “The Chosen One”. That is what happens when you call yourself “King James”. All before getting drafted in the NBA right out of high school.
Look, LeBron is probably right about being “the easiest target that we have in sports“. But as the saying goes, “you reap what you sew” – and LeBron knows that.
