How My MLB Predictions Fare at the Midway Point: American League

Well, we are already at the midway point of the 2012 Major League Baseball season. If you recall from a recent rant, there have been a lot of surprises this season. Some of which make me and my predictions look pretty stupid right now – then again, that’s not that hard to do.

Tonight I will be crack on my American League preseason picks, with the National League to follow tomorrow. Now, without further ado…

Actual AL East standings

  1. New York Yankees
  2. Baltimore Orioles
  3. Tampa Bay Rays
  4. Boston Red Sox
  5. Toronto Blue Jays

My Predicted Standings

  1. New York Yankees
  2. Tampa Bay Rays-*
  3. Boston Red Sox
  4. Baltimore Orioles
  5. Toronto Blue Jays

Not too bad here. I just didn’t see the Orioles coming. Then again, with Buck Showalter at the helm, I should have known better. Meanwhile, Bobby Valentine has to make good on my prediction that he will make the damn Red Sox better. What the hell dude?

Actual AL Central Standings

  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Cleveland Indians
  3. Detroit Tigers
  4. Kansas City Royals
  5. Minnesota Twins

My Predicted AL Central Standings

  1. Detroit Tigers
  2. Minnesota Twins
  3. Cleveland Indians
  4. Chicago White Sox
  5. Kansas City Royals

While the Tigers are on a winning streak, what the hell is going on in Minnesota? Ugh! Nice to see that the Royals are, well, still the Royals…

Actual AL West Standings

  1. Texas Rangers
  2. LA Angels of Anaheim around the corner from Long Beach near El Segundo
  3. Oakland Athletics
  4. Seattle Mariners

My Predicted AL West Standings

  1. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim below Long Beach
  2. Texas Rangers-*
  3. Oakland Athletics
  4. Seattle Mariners

Not too much to report here. Should be one helluva second half between the Rangers and the Angels.

  1. The Twins in 25 words or less: They spent far too much money on a singles hitting catcher, and they are getting nothing out of their big buck slugger…and their pitching (what isn’t hurt) is dreadful.
