2013 Week 17 NFL Preview

NFLHere we are, the last week of the 2013 NFL season.  As always, it is a bittersweet moment for me.

Sigh.

As this season comes to a close, let us end this journey by previewing the last week of the regular season rife with playoff implications…

Game of the Week

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys.  This game will decide who will win the NFC East, and who will watch the playoffs from home.  I like the roll Philly has been on (how many people outside of Philly had the Eagles winning the division?), and head coach Chip Kelly has the Eagles headed in the right direction.  The Cowboys will not have Tony Romo (no matter what “head coach” Jason Garrett says), and while I wouldn’t have picked Dallas to win this game with Romo, it certainly will not beat Philly without him.  Another season, another disappointment in Dallas.  Eagles 30, Dallas 20.

“Playoff Push” Games

AFC
Steelers over Browns (too little, too late for my Steelers)
Bengals over Ravens
Jets over Dolphins
Chargers over Chiefs (San Diego will get the last playoff spot in the AFC)

NFC
Panthers over Falcons (Carolina will win the NFC South, which means…)
Saints over Buccaneers (Saints will claim a wildcard spot)
49ers over Cardinals (49ers will win the NFC West which means…)
Rams over Seahawks (Seattle is beatable at home, and Jeff Fisher and the Rams will smack the Seahawks in the mouth)
Bears over Packers (Bears will win the NFC North)

Best of the Rest

Colts over Jaguars
Vikings over Lions (the Lions will quit on Jim Schwartz, which should cost him his job)
Titans over Texans (Houston will end the season on a 14-game losing streak)
Giants over Redskins (think Mike Shanahan will be happy to get the hell out of Dodge?)
Broncos over Raiders
Patriots over Bills

Last week’s record: 11-5 (looking to end the season on a high note…)
Year-to-date: 148-79-1*
*keep in mind I was on vacation in Mexico during week 2, so my record does not include that week
