Super Bowl LX Was the Ultimate Redemption Story for Sam Darnold

It’s been a few days since the Seattle Seahawks won their second Super Bowl, but one thing hasn’t changed.

I am still happy for Sam Darnold.

A guy who was once labelled a “bust” as a New York Jet. A guy who bounced around as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers (yuck!). Talk about being to hell and back.

But then the Minnesota Vikings came along and gave Darnold a lifeline. He balled out in his only season as a Viking in place of the injured then-rookie JJ McCarthy, but was not brought back because the team wanted to roll with McCarthy.

Which led to the Seahawks giving Darnold the opportunity of a lifetime.

How did he reward them? Throwing for over 4,000 yards, 25 touchdowns and completing almost 68% of his passes while leading Seattle to a 14-3 record, NFC West title, an NFC championship, and lastly a Super Bowl title.

This is a good example of what happens when someone believes in you.

Seattle’s front office and coaching staff took a chance on Darnold because they saw what he did in Minnesota and quickly pounced on him. I bet the Vikings would like him back in THEIR building.

Here’s a toast to Sam Darnold for not giving in and believing himself when only Seattle did.
