Mike McCarthy??!!!

There I was stepping away from blogging and minding my own Steeler-loving business — enjoying the spoils of life such as juggling a teenager, being a good uncle/godfather to my nephews, and TikTok/YouTube vlogging — when I got the following news:

My beloved Pittsburgh Steelers will hire former Green Bay Packers/Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy to succeed Mike Tomlin, aka Omar Epps.

And I, and most Steeler fans, have been asking the same questions ever since.

“Mike McCarthy???”

“Why McCarthy?!”

“WTF, Mr. Rooney???”

“I’ve come back to blogging for THIS??” (Okay, maybe that was only MY question)

Yes, I know we had to make a change at head coach.

Tomlin gave us 19 successful years that unfortunately included not winning a playoff game the last 10 years. His defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed last season, and our offense was… well, OFFENSIVE.

The problem is that McCarthy’s record is eerily similar to Tomlin’s.

McCarthy’s coaching record is 174–112–2, not including an 11–11 playoff record. He has eight division titles coaching the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys and one Super Bowl title (beating ironically my Steelers).

Meanwhile, Tomlin has an 193–114–2 coaching record with an 8–12 postseason record. He also has eight division titles and a Super Bowl title.

In other words, this is like my wife leaving me FOR ME.
