You can’t tell me the NBA ain’t rigged, especially the NBA Draft Lottery.
The “frozen envelope” that landed Patrick Ewing with my beloved New York Knicks. Lebron James going to his “hometown” Cleveland Cavaliers. Victor Wembanyama going to the San Antonio Spurs, a place where international players excel.
Shaquille O’Neal AND Penny Hardaway going to the Orlando Magic in BACK-TO-BACK years. Derrick Rose going to his hometown Chicago Bulls.
And we haven’t even begun to touch the NBA Playoffs! Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals (#IYKYK). And that Jordan push off (Utah Jazz fans know all too well).
All that being in the back pocket, we now have the results of the 2025 Draft Lottery last night.
The Dallas Mavericks won the right to draft Cooper Flagg despite only having a 1.8% chance (!!) to draft #1. And this was AFTER they made the trade heard around the world when they sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis.
It’s as if the league commish Adam Silver set this up as a “make up” to Dallas fans for the stupid move made by ownership (that wasn’t solely Nico Harrison’s, Dallas’s general manager, call y’all).
C’mon, now!!!
